Blytheco CMS Migration

Summary: This project was a CMS Migration of a 20-year-old ERP reseller website.

Role: Design Lead. Co-Lead Management of Project.

Results:

• New design and successfully migrated to a CMS platform within 6-months

• Consoliated architecture of the website

• Developed 20 new page templates and a variety of custom components to serve as base for all new pages

Deep Dive: This 8-month project comprised of 5 main phases which were planned out by our team of two, and executed in conjunction with the client’s Marketing department:

1. Scoping & Prep

   • Creating inventory of current site pages, features and media

   • Assessing taxonomy, removing duplicate content

   • Prepare project plan including all activities, owners and dependencies

2. Pre-Migration Work

   • Assess wireframes and page designs

   • Research and select a template for Umbraco to utilize as a base

   • Audit and finalize new sitemap

   • Content Writing

   • Establish SEO-friendly naming conventions and specifications

   • Identify Priority Pages

   • Benchmark current site performance to compare to post-migration

3. Pre-Launch Phase

   • Review page templates

   • Review content and internal links

4. Launch

   • Work with dev team on compiling and creating data-types for CMS

   • Design all identified page types, templates, and components for web and mobile

   • Develop webpage requirements and rules to be coded into site to prevent new pages from breaking branding, including copy limitation and color-way rules for all components
